Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan is NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate and If he is elected, he would be the second Maharashtra Governor to occupy the second highest constitutional post of the country. The first Maharashtra Governor was Shankar Dayal Sharma, who later also became the President of India. The voting for the Vice President post will be held on September 8. The opposition INDI alliance has named former Supreme Court Judge B Sudershan Reddy as its candidate.

The political fight between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar had reached a thaw after prospective intervention by congress high command. Reports suggest that DK is taking all possible measures, including the deputation of trusted bureaucrats, so that the power transfer is effectively smooth. It is to be seen if this will result in possible change of reign in Karnataka, or Siddaramaiah will prevail, like before.
