Why is Lalu reluctant to hand over party leadership to Tejashwi?

Lalu Prasad Yadav has been re-elected unopposed as the national president of the RJD for the 13th time. Despite Tejashwi Yadav's rise as a key political figure and CM face, Lalu is hesitant to pass on the party's reins. The upcoming Bihar elections, internal family disputes, and factionalism within the party are key reasons. With rivalries between Tejashwi, Tej Pratap, and Misa Bharti surfacing, Lalu fears losing control. He believes only his leadership can preserve the party’s core Yadav-Muslim vote bank and unity.

Congress and Emergency

On June 25, the BJP led government is observing 'Democracy Murder Day' and various programmes have been organised to condemn the June 25, 1975 Emergency. Now Congress has no way of doing away with the black spot. Ruling dispensation is also targeting INDIA bloc parties whose leaders were victims of Emergency, but are now siding with the Congress, which is responsible for imposing the Emergency.

Rahul's statements polarising voters in Gujarat by-polls?

In the recently held five Assembly by-elections, the performance of Congress was poor. Except, Kerala, the party faced humiliating defeats in Gujarat, Punjab and West Bengal. Gujarat Congress Chief resigned owing to the moral responsibility of party's poor performance. Sources said that two months earlier, Congress organised a two-day event in Ahmedabad and Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders gave some 'unwanted' statements related to the State, reservation and on social issues. They say that these sensitive issues backfired in Gujarat. In Punjab too, Congress could not give an impressive performance. The West Bengal results have shown that Congress has no presence in the State.
