New apex transport body to fast-track mobility projects green flagged by cabinet
To eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks and unify India’s fragmented mobility sectors, the Union Cabinet has approved the Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority (ITLA). Acting as a powerful national apex body, ITLA will spearhead comprehensive transport planning, data analytics, and project appraisal.
Moving away from isolated departmental silos, the authority will craft a 10-year National Transport Master Plan integrating roads, railways, aviation, and shipping. Crucially, ITLA will actively monitor and evaluate all infrastructure projects exceeding ₹500 crore. By providing a coordinated mechanism for rapid issue resolution and conducting post-implementation impact assessments, the authority aims to drastically cut domestic logistics costs. Ultimately, this sweeping integration ensures multi-modal transit projects are delivered efficiently, optimizing national freight flow to align with India’s Vision 2047.
