HUDCO Organises Painting Competition for Underprivileged Children UPDATED

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO), a Navratna NBFC–IFC under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), organised its annual Painting Competition for children from underprivileged and vulnerable communities at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, as part of the run-up to World Habitat Day celebrations.

A flagship initiative for over three decades, the competition provides children from underserved communities a platform to creatively express their aspirations for safe, inclusive and sustainable habitats. This year, around 260 children from various NGOs and orphanages participated in the Junior Group (8–11 years) and Senior Group (12–14 years) categories on the theme “Adequate Housing for All.” The participants portrayed their vision of homes and cities that are safe, accessible, dignified, resilient and sustainable.

Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman & Managing Director, HUDCO, along with the Directors and senior officials of HUDCO, interacted with the children and appreciated their creativity. Addressing the participants, Shri Kulshrestha said their paintings reflected a vision of inclusive and sustainable cities, adding that the initiative provides children a space to dream, express themselves and inspire others. He reaffirmed HUDCO’s commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable urban development.

A Live Talent Show featuring singing, drama, poetry and dance added vibrancy to the event. In a new initiative, children of HUDCO employees also participated alongside children from NGOs and orphanages, fostering interaction, friendship and social inclusion across diverse backgrounds.

The award-winning paintings will be exhibited at Vigyan Bhawan during the World Habitat Day celebrations in October.
