Five-member National Tribunals Commission envisaged under Act
The Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026 provides for the establishment of a National Tribunals Commission consisting of a Chairperson and four Members, including two Judicial Members and two Technical Members. The Chairperson shall be a former Judge of the Supreme Court or a former Chief Justice of a High Court. Judicial Members shall be former Chief Justices or Judges of High Courts, while Technical Members must possess at least 25 years of experience in fields such as public administration, finance, law, accountancy, banking, management or technology. The Chairperson and Members shall be appointed by the Central Government, with consultation of the Chief Justice of India being mandatory for appointment of the Chairperson and Judicial Members.
