BRICS Summit 2026: The Who’s Who making a beeline for Delhi

India, is chairing the BRICS this year, is set to host the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit on September 12 and 13. The summit to be held at Bharat Mandapam has made global attention and is in focus internationally in the wake of the current goe-political situation.

The summit is expected to focus on issues including multilateralism, trade, investment, energy and food security, supply chains and global governance, besides exploring a local digitized currency platform for trade. The 11 full members of BRICS are Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, UAE Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and — Foreign minister of Brazil Mauro Vieira are attending the event. Eight BRICS partner and outreach countries have also confirmed their representation. They include Alexander Lukashenko — President, Belarus, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev — President, Kazakhstan, Anwar Ibrahim — Prime Minister, Malaysia, Anutin Charnvirakul — Prime Minister, Thailand, Miguel Díaz-Canel — President, Cuba, Bola Ahmed Tinubu — President, Nigeria,Shavkat Mirziyoyev — President, Uzbekistan and Jessica Alupo — Vice-President, Uganda.UN Secretary-General António Guterres is also among the list of invitees.
