Turmoil in Jawaharlal University

It is unfortunate that during the last few years there has been continuous turmoil in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) over one issue or other with the students and faculty at loogerheads with the administration i.e the Vice Chancellor. The students of JNU are perhaps the best in India selected after a rigorous process. They have the potential to be future leaders of India. They have already made great sacrifice to pursue their higher studies in India instead of running away to USA or Canada or Europe.

Therefore we as citizens of India should take the responsibility to provide quality education to these future leaders. Many of them claim to belong to economically weaker sections of society. Therefore I appeal to the Prime Minister to intervene in the current turmoil and announce that henceforth Government will take total responsibility to provide world class education to these students by bearing the entire expenditure of tuition, hostel fees, mess charges and any other charges which maybe levied from time to time. All students admitted to JNU can be called Bharat scholars. It is a small sum to be

spent for developing our future leaders. The Government should also implement some radical reforms.

Firstly, attendance for both students and faculty can be optional. The faculty members have already made great sacrifice by staying back in India instead of going to foreign universities. Therefore they are fully aware of their responsibilities and asking them to sign a register or swipe a card is not fair.

The present Vice Chancellor who seems to have incurred the displeasure of both students and faculty may be asked to return to his parent body-IIT Delhi- from where he can resume his seminal contribution to Electrical Engineering. The students and faculty can form a committee to run the university.

Another major reform that should be implemented is to do away with all examinations. The worth of the students has already been proved once they are admitted. So a master’s degree after two years stay in the hostel and a PhD after four years stay can be awarded subject only to the condition that they vacate their room in the hostel.

This will bring much needed peace to the campus. While a majority can devote themselves to pursuit of knowledge without hindrance, a small minority can still train themselves to organise agitations for some issue or there which will provide the necessary training for pursuing their career in politics.

DECISION MAKING TODAY

For 70 years Indians were kept in darkness and told that intractable problems cannot be solved. The people voted in a new government in 2014 . And repeated the same mandate by an even bigger margin to the NDA Alliance led by the BJP. The current situation is astonishing . - First TTT for Muslim women was resolved. - Next Art 370 was permanently abolished . - Next AYODHYA decision of SC is being honoured. - RCEP was a disaster for our economy since 2007 ! India's PM stated that INDIA FIRST was the basis of his political mandate. He refused to sign a discriminatory agreement. - Indian Army is moving into 21st century with fast reorganisation. A measure approved by the NDA alliance . Next step our economy ? Yes. Time to remove all cobwebs of the past.

Discrimination with retd CPWD employees

The present BJP Government is encouraging to boost up the tourism industry, but while going to book the CPWD holiday homes, it is found that the retired central Government employees can book 30 (thirty) days in advance from the check in date, while serving central government employees can book 60 (sixty) days in advance from the check in date. It is often found while booking of CPWD holiday homes are already booked by the serving government employees, as they get 60 days time to book the same, while retired government employees are denied of the same as during the previous 30 days all the holiday homes are booked. The Government should consider few points that after the retirement from the government service a person usually spend time traveling the spiritual places or to a hill station or seaside town or city for refreshment with their limited pension, while serving government employees while on tour or LTC get reimbursement of his tour expenses including hotel bills (while on official tour), etc. who need not to bear this hefty expenses for accommodation. Therefore it would be very helpful for the retired government employees if the booking of CPWD holiday homes / Touring Officers hostel accommodation should also be open for retired government employees prior to 60 days in advance from check in date.

Black Money

Generation and Remedies Black Money is generated due to evasion of various taxes which are due and are supposed to be paid to the Government and not paid. Excess cash in circulation is also one of the reasons for generation of black money. There are many other reasons also. Cash is generated also due to tax exempt institutions like NGOs, Trusts, Welfare Organisations, Educational Institutions etc. These organisations are involved in social activities are are serving society at large. Now time has come these organisations can serve the country also by paying the required taxes if the provision of tax exemption is withdrawn. Now it becomes necessary to consider the withdrawal of tax exempt list and bring them in tax net thru an Amendment in Income Tax Act 1961 and other relevant tax provisions. Now a days lot of cash is being seized from individuals, trusts, institutions etc. which is. unaccounted wealth. The best way to overcome these problems is withdrawing of high denomination notes i.e. Rs. 2000/ note and Rs, 500/ note in specified time frame and in phased manner like Rs. 2000/ not in six months and Rs. 500/ note in a year time. It should be done with full public knowledge that high denomination notes are being withdrawn. There should be restriction in the limit of cash transactions. No cash transaction of more than Rs. 10,000/ all other transactions either digital or using plastic cards. Let all bank account holders are issued plastic cards like Rupay, Visa etc so they can do their transactions using these cards. Luckily we have some one who can do it. It is anticipated that If these two steps are followed, it may reduce the generation of black money and also corruption. Let these two points are considered and debated at the highest level and come to the logical conclusions to reduce the generation of black money and corruption. All the best.
